Creating Diagrams

In many of your information systems classes, you will have to create diagrams to show how your programs or systems work. This page will help you find a tool to use and give you some pointers on how to produce a good looking diagram.

There are basically four types of diagrams you will have to make for your IS courses:

  1. Flowcharts
  2. Unified Modeling Language (UML's) Class Diagrams
  3. Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD's)
  4. Data Flow Diagrams (DFD's)
To keep things simple, you can use a free web-based drawing tool called Giffy. Get a free account by sign up for the Free Plan. This allows you to save 5 diagrams with 2MB of storage.
